Vin Diesel announces his involvement with Fast & Furious Live

In February, Universal announced plans to take the near-$6 billion dollar franchise 'on the road' for what's being billed as a Fast & Furious Live tour that “will transport fans straight into some of the most memorable scenes and stunts from the films” at global arenas. While the concept still sounds like a bit of a stretch, franchise star Vin Diesel aka "Dominic Toretto" recently announced his involvement with the Live show in a video to his Facebook fans:

"My work with Fast and Furious never ends. Which I'm grateful for because, of you all," Diesel state in a video to fans. "We are filming something pretty state of the art, something no one has ever seen before which is a live show, which will be shown at O2 arena London, and all over the world. It will be a way for you to see the action first-hand"

Though details about the LIVE tour are still a mystery, Diesel's Facebook announcement revealed he's filming "something state of the art" at an unknown New York City studio location and was seen sporting his signature "Toretto" cutoff last worn in Fast and Furious 6. At this point it's anyone's guess as to what "state of the art" Diesel and co. have planned but it's fair to speculate his involvement could signal Dom's stage presence as part of the show's script. And since we're still at the speculation stage, it's not entirely out of the question that Diesel's involvement with Fast & Furious Live could set up potential story lines for part 9.

But if we've learned anything from the franchise's 16 year existence, it's that brand equity pays dividends from merchandising, spinoffs, and Universal Studios rides; and now with the LIVE arena experience - like it or not - fans will have the opportunity to relive some of the greatest action sequences depicted on screen not named The Driver, The French Connection, Ronin, Bullitt, and Baby Driver. Just recreate the vault heist and we can call it a day.

Fast & Furious Live will debut in January 2018.
