'X-Men: Apocalypse' Star Sophie Turner Says the Next Film Begins Production this Year

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell X-Men: Supernova was recently a project doing the rounds, as the supposed follow up to X-Men: Apocalypse. It would adapt the Dark Phoenix Saga from the comic book series, and earlier reports suggested that filming would begin in June. That's certainly not a lot of time to put this thing together in time for production.

Speaking with HeyUGuys, Sophie Turner, who starred as Jean Grey in Apocalypse, said on the red carpet at the BAFTAS that "we're about to start shooting the next X-Men, we've just finished shooting Season 7 of Thrones, and I've got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8."

So apart from the fact that it confirms Turner is becoming a busy young actress in the industry, it sounds like this thing is certainly on its way. X-Men: New Mutants from Josh Boone is also set to start filming this year, so its looking like a big year for the franchise despite the poor results that came from Apocalypse.

But we know so little about Supernova that it's looking a little suspicious. Fox has given no news about directors, cast, or a script. The other possibility is that Turner could be playing some kind of role in New Mutants, but that's entirely speculative and likely untrue. Hopefully, we start hearing more soon.
