Yoda Nearly Made an Appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Concept art and various reports have made it clear that Anakin Skywalker almost made an appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens before ultimately being cut, and while Yoda can be heard during Rey's force vision, the powerful little green Jedi almost made an on-screen appearance too.

Editors for the film Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey have revealed that they had considered having Yoda appear on screen, though that wasn't to be, and Frank Oz had to settle with offering his voice up for the iconic backwards-speaking Jedi master.

"There was one point where we were actually thinking of having Yoda in the film, and then we decided not to," Brandon told ET at the 66th annual AC Eddie Awards. "Frank Oz came in for a day and did a whole bunch of Yoda and he was over the moon to do it — and we were tickled pink!"

Obviously, that performance was left on the cutting room floor, but we can't count the character, or any other from the earlier films, out of the saga's future.
