'A Monster Calls' Pushed Back to Award-Season Arrival
Focus Features has shifted the release date for its upcoming film A Monster Calls, looking to awards season by pushing it back two months for a December premiere.
Initially slated for October 21, it's now getting a limited release on December 23 before going wide on January 6. Given that the October date was for a wide release, it seems the film's entire strategy is being shifted around, as the film has been touted as awards-potential.
The film premieres at TIFF next weekend, so it will be interesting to learn some early reactions to the film as we look to the start of 2017 for our own taste of the film.
