A Sequel to 'Don't Breathe' is in Development
Don't Breathe was a big box office success and another example of horror done right in 2016, and director Fede Alvarez and producer Rodo Sayagues have revealed to ComingSoon that a sequel is in the works.
“Is it all true?” says Alvarez. “Yeah, it’s true. We’re putting together the story right now. Obviously, there’s a book and there’s a script that’s great. Because we write everything I direct, we’re working on that part right now to make it our own and put our imprint in it so it feels like it’s part of our filmography.”
“We just started, but we know exactly where it goes,” Alvarez teases. “But we won’t tell you right now. But there will be more ‘Don’t Breathe’ for sure.”
There's no official confirmation just yet of a Don't Breathe 2, but its $150 million box office earnings against its $10 million budget suggest that it's only a matter of time. Alvarez is currently being looked at to take the helm of The Girl in the Spider's Web, so whether he departs for the sequel or it is simply put off to work into his schedule, we'll have to find out.
