A 'Splash' remake is in development, but with one major change
Producer Brian Grazer is developing a remake of his own 1984 classic film Splash, which shouldn't come as a surprise in a year that's been heavier than ever with re-imaginings of old classics.
There will be a major change for the new film, however. The story will be told from the mermaid's perspective. While speaking with CNBC, the producer discussed how the 1984 film was not entirely what he envisioned, despite winning a Best Original Screenplay award.
The new film will be "a version of" his first plans for the film, which was initially titled wet. "There’s a movie star involved, or going to be involved. I haven’t announced it."
