Amazon Renews 'Goliath' for Season 2, Taps New Showrunner
Billy Bob Thronton's Amazon drama series Goliath has been gifted a second season, and Clyde Phillips of Dexter and Nurse Jackie writing background has been bumped up to take on showrunning duties. He'll executive produce, as well, alongside David E. Kelley, Jonathan Shapiro, and Ross Fineman.
Goliath follows a washed-up lawyer who has one shot at redemption after a client he successfully defended from a murder charge went on to slaughter a family. Thornton won a Golden Globe for the role in January, and told press back then that Amazon wanted more from the series.
“This one was written in a way that it had a beginning, middle and an end…but I honestly believe there is more potential for the show than what was in the first season,” he said. “I think we need to know more about where this guy came from.”
