Anton Yelchin Won't be Replaced in 'Star Trek 4'
Anton Yelchin tragically died a month ago in a freak car accident, resulting in an outpouring of grief in the entertainment community and particularly from his co-stars and crew on Star Trek.
With sights on Star Trek 4 now, J.J. Abrams has addressed the question of whether his character, Chekov, is to be recast in the franchise, given his staple role in the series.
Speaking to Postmedia Network, Abrams said, "I would say there’s no replacing him. There’s no recasting. I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better.”
Abrams did reveal that he has thought about how they will write the character from the series. "I have thought about it, we're working on it, and it's too early to talk about it."
