'Avengers: Infinity War' is No Longer a 2-Parter

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Disney has revealed that Avengers: Infinity War parts 1 and 2 will now be a standalone third film in the Avengers series. May 4th is still the set release date for Infinity War, while part 2 has now been renamed to "Untitled Avengers" on the official schedule, according to The Wrap.

At various stages throughout the year, the Russo's have indicated that the two films will not feel wholly connected, and have even been on the record to indicate that titles may change. Whether this was a move long in the making remains unclear.

“The movies are very very different from one another,” said Anthony Russo. “It’s not a part one and part two scenario, necessarily. They’re just two different expressions. I think it creates a misconception that we’re shooting them at the same time.”

We can expect, at this stage, that everything is still running smoothly, and perhaps Disney has simply decided against trying to cash in on the wave of two-part adaptations, which seem like a dying fad already.
