Ben Affleck Expects DC Comic Cinematic World to be Massive

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell After a rough year for Warner Bros., without any major blockbuster franchises to rake in their cash, Ben Affleck believes 2016 will be the year it all turns around with the launch of the DC universe.

"You'll see next year they are going to have a great year," Affleck told Variety. "They are now developing... probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it's going to be massive."

'Exploit' is the perfect word here. In an age where popular franchises in whichever medium means massive money on the big screen, WB are sure to wring the DC comics bookshelves dry.

It's more than a little disappointing to know that WB's poor 2015 can be marked down to the fact that they haven't had any major franchise films release, which instills the fact that blockbuster franchises are not going away and will continue to overshadow great filmmaking.

Let's hope, though, that Batman v Superman proves to be just that: great filmmaking. Either way, it's going to make money (though maybe not Star Wars-levels of money).
