Bryan Singer Pitches a Female Wolverine to Follow Hugh Jackman

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell It's the first, and craziest, possibility that's come about regarding the future of the Wolverine character following Hugh Jackman's departure. It's also the one that makes the most sense.

Director Bryan Singer has spoken with Fandango and revealed that he pitched Fox on a female replacement for Jackman, specifically the character Laura Kinney (previously, X-23).

"I have discussed that with the studio," Singer told Fandango. "I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female." Singer confirmed that work has begun on an X-Force film, but does admit that it is still in the earliest of stages. "Simon [Kinberg] is in the earliest script stage, so that's kind of where that stands, and we'll see how it evolves."

Kinberg himself has said that an X-Force film should be R-rated, which is becoming the new hot thing in superhero films.
