'Paper Magician' Movie Adaption Happening At Disney

Disney Secures Film Rights for 'Paper Magician'

ZachPerilstein ZachPerilstein Disney Reporter Disney has secured the movie rights to a fairly new, popular book series.

Charles N. Holmberg's book trilogy 'Paper Magician' is going to be made into a Disney film(s). Allison Shearmur who is currently producing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and also has produced films like Hunger Games and Cinderella is setting up this project.

The plot behind the 'Paper Magician' follows a young student who attends a magic academy, and is assigned to be apprentice in paper magic despite her desire to cast spells on metal. Soon she learns the horrors of using forbidden magic. After her teacher's heart is ripped out by an excisioner, a practitioner of dark magic, she must go on an adventure to reveal the identity of this dark sorcerer.

There is currently three books in the series. The Paper Magician came out in September 2014 followed by the sequel The Glass Magician in November 2014 and then the third book, The Master Magician was released in June 2015.

Maybe Disney could use ABC's Once Upon A Time Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis to write the screenplay. We can all dream right?
