'Dracula Untold' Does Not Exist in Universal's Monsters Universe
With Tom Cruise's The Mummy officially unveiled, Universal now begins the process of making the world fall in love with its monsters as it looks to rival DC and Marvel in the expanded universe market.
So while questions of just what role Dracula Untold, which starred Luke Evans, plays in the franchise were relatively unanswered for some time, it seems that the film no longer has any connection to the series to come.
Alex Kurtzman revealed the lack of connectivity while doing press for The Mummy trailer launch. With Tom Cruise heading up The Mummy, and Russell Crowe starring as Dr. Henry Jekyll in the film, as well as Johnny Depp's casting as the Invisible Man, things seem far more organised than they did when Dracula Untold was being put together.
So, The Mummy officially launches the monsters universe on June 9, 2017.
