Executive Producer for 'Gotham' On How We Can Expect Season 3 to Be Split

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell With eleven episodes in the fall and eleven in the spring for Gotham's second season in a television age that offers more episodes with mid-season breaks between, the heads at the Fox show have been measured in how to split their respective years up.

Season two's first half detailed the Rise of the Villains, while the second was the Wrath of the Villains. In the best way to go, they tell two distinct stories that add up to a season whole. “We extend [the longer story arcs] in season three," executive producer John Stephens told Comicbook.com

"We’ve made the story even more serialized in season three. Everybody goes through a major character metamorphosis throughout the course of the year.” Stephens also revealed that there will be three special, additional episodes to come in January.

“We’re doing eleven [episodes] in the Fall, then there’s three episodes in January, then the final run of seven or eight episodes in the Spring. [The three] is not a self-contained [series of] episodes, because it extends what we’re doing in the Fall, but it is an ended story, so we’ll arc it out.”

Gotham returns September 19.
