First Deadpool Screening Boasts Impressive Response from Fans
In New York and Los Angeles, fans believed they were attending a preview footage session of upcoming superhero film Deadpool. Instead, they were treated to the entire thing.
And so far, the reactions are very positive. Admittedly, as a fan event, this select group of viewers could be biased, but fans of any genre film are always open to distaste toward the latest adaptation of a beloved story or franchise character.
One member of the audience proclaimed it as the best Marvel adaptation yet, and many fans of the source material said they are incredibly pleased with the film from director Tim Miller.
Ryan Reynolds attended the New York screening, while Miller attended the Los Angeles one with co-stars T.J. Miller and Briana Hildebrand, creator Rob Liefeld, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, producer Simon Kinberg, and comics legend Stan Lee.
Opening Feb 12, the impressive opening response to the film is a boost for a genre that probably needs this kind of evolution, with Deadpool taking the plunge and screening r-rated everywhere (except China, who don't want anything to do with its level of graphic violence).
