'Ghostbusters' Takes $17.2 Million on Friday Box Office
Paul Feig's female-led Ghostbusters reboot has taken the top spot at the Friday box office, with $17.2 million.
While the numbers aren't huge, matched up alongside its $144 million budget, it's still a reasonable opening, and Feig's films have historically slow-boiled their way to solid takes by the end of their run. It is currently on track with projections.
The Secret Life of Pets landed second on Friday, and s a good chance to overtake Ghostbusters. This isn't surprising, given the animated power that's really dominated this year.
The BFG only took just over a million on Friday, and has only earned $44 million to this point.
