'Gotham' Season 3 to Introduce Mad Hatter and More, New Details on Over-Arching Court of Owls Plot

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell With season 2 of Gotham behind us, and the series seemingly picking up steam with audiences and critics alike after a relatively hit and miss debut year, executive producer John Stephens spoke with CBR on what's to come in season 3.

The EP promises plenty of payoff next season when it comes to Hugo Strange's goals and the role of his bosses, the Court of Owls. "It plays into our overarcing Court of Owls’ mythology."

Fish Mooney's revival in season 2 is a big deal in understanding what's to come. "[That’s] incredibly important. That is the key. That is what we will discover Hugo Strange has been up to all this time, is to resurrect somebody who has their full personality. That is what the key members of the Court of Owls want him to achieve."

On which villains are coming to the series next season, Stephens confirmed a few more obscure Bat enemies that should excite fans of the mythology. “We’ll be seeing Mad Hatter in Season 3. We’ll be seeing the Tweedle Brothers, too, if we’re going to bring the Hatter in. In line with the Court of Owls, we’ll be seeing Talon. And, we should be seeing Solomon Grundy.”

Expect the third season to premiere in the fall of 2016.
