'Gotham' Set to Debut Killer Croc and Harley Quinn in the Near Future

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell With the success of Suicide Squad, the latest bout of news is both surprising and not surprising at all. Fox's Gotham is set to take advantage of the film's success with the intent to introduce both Harley Quinn and Killer Croc, though perhaps not in season 3.

“The Indian Hill that exists in Gotham, that’s the bridge to these villains like killer Croc and Solomon Grundy,” said executive producer Ken Woodruff at the Television Critics Association. Executive producer John Stephens also teased the idea of "developing the myth of Joker."

"A lot of those characters because they're in the Suicide Squad are not going to be seen this season. We will be seeing proto-versions of some of those characters," Stephens said. "We'll be seeing a Killer Croc proto-vision. We'll also be seeing a character who, maybe not this season, but in time to come, can be seen as a forerunner to Harley Quinn."

It's likely to be a Harleen Quinzel before the plunge into madness, yet it is surprising given the difficulty TV properties have had using big-screen characters. Arrow is one example, where the Suicide Squad made a pretty abrupt departure.
