HBO Acquires J.K. Rowling's Crime Series 'Cormoran Strike'

NadiaA71 NadiaA71 As the premiere for Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them looms closer, another of J.K. Rowling's book series is being developed, this time for television. Last year BBC One announced that it is adapting Rowling's Cormoran Strike crime novels (written under a pseudonym of Robert Galbraith). And now HBO has acquired the US and Canadian rights of Cormoran Strike.

Actor Tom Burke (The Musketeers) is cast as the titular role, a war veteran turned private detective who investigates complex cases with his assistant Robin Ellacott out of a tiny office in London. BBC One will air three series: The Cuckoo's Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil. No news yet as to who will play Ellacott but filming is scheduled to start this fall.

Rowling will executive produce through her production company Bronte Film & TV. The script for The Cuckoo's Calling and The Silkworm is penned by Ben Richards (The Tunnel) while Career of Evil is written by Tom Edge (The Last Dragon Slayer).
