HBO Renews 'Westworld' for Season 2
It was more a matter of time before HBO announced that Westworld would be returning to screens after season 1, and now it's been confirmed. The cabler has greenlit a follow-up year to the astounding debut of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's sci-fi-western hybrid.
HBO needed a win desperately, given the failure of Vinyl and executive changes over the course of this year. Not to mention, their biggest money-maker, Game of Thrones, is winding down its final two seasons.
THR reports that the series may return in the fall of 2017, however there's also the possibility that it will be pushed until 2018. Given the expensive and complicated production process (evidenced by the first season's long road to screens), it's not unlikely.
HBO renewed sitcom Insecure as well, which follows a black woman in Los Angeles, as well as Divorce, a dark comedy about a couple going through an acrimonious split.
