HBO's 'Westworld' Resumes Production, Adds Lili Simmons to Cast
Lil Simmons (True Detective) has joined HBO's upcoming sci-fi drama series Westworld in a recurring role. The production on the show itself has resumed, having been put on hold back in January.
Westworld is a reimagining of the classic Michael Crichton film, a combination of science fiction and wild west iconography, and is described as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin."
Simmons will play Abigail, who works in the central theme-park and uses her appearance and charm to lure guests into the saloon.
With Bone Tomahawk, co-starring role in Banshee for Cinemax, and her guest arc in season one of True Detective, HBO casting executives have had their eye on Simmons for some time now. Westworld, meanwhile, has been pushed back to 2017, having at one point been slated for a 2015 premiere.
