James Gunn Reveals 'The Suicide Squad' Cast

James Gunn tweeted out the cast for his upcoming film The Suicide Squad. The photo featured 24 stars.

The casting rumors for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad have been bonkers. Now we finally have confirmation on what the cast will officially look like and it's incredible.

The Suicide Squad will feature the returns of Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney from the 2016 film. It was confirmed that Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, and John Cena would have roles. Elba was previously thought of as playing Deadshot, who was portrayed by Will Smith in the 2016 version. It was revealed Idris Elba would be playing a new character. The rest of the cast includes Taika Waititi, Peter Capaldi, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Joaquin Cosio, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, and Michael Rooker.

James Gunn wrote the script for The Suicide Squad film. The film will be a reboot of 2016's Suicide Squad. The 2016 film performed well financially but did not go over well critically. The film also was a part of the DCEU which is currently undergoing some maintenance.

The Suicide Squad releases on August 6, 2021.
