Jeremy Renner Attached to Star in True Story of Boxer Rocky Marciano
While the film industry is always cycling through the current big genre in the war for box office supremacy, boxing films have always just kind of been there. This year has seen the release of both Southpaw and Creed, both of which have been well received.
Now, it looks like we've got another one coming. Jeremy Renner has been attached to star in Undefeated: The Rocky Marciano Story, the true story of the iconic boxer from childhood to his untimely death.
Marciano is the only heavyweight boxer to ever retire from the sport undefeated, though if the film is set to explore his life around the boxing, that feat won't be capable of holding a dramatic edge. Samuel Franco and Evan Kilgore are writing the biopic, with Morris S. Levy producing via his Mega Films banner.
With few starring roles for Renner in recent times, the only one I can recall being The Bourne Legacy, it will be interesting to see how he pulls something of this calibre off. With plenty of supporting roles behind him, does he have what it takes to carry a film?
