Lawrence Kasdan to Walk Away from Star Wars after Han Solo Film
Having co-written The Force Awakens with J.J. Abrams, signing on to co-write the Han Solo 2018 film with his son will mark Lawrence Kasdan's final trip into the intergalactic universe.
In an interview with German tabloid Bild, Kasdan said that it is time to move away from the space franchise."I have now made four Star Wars movies. That's more than enough."
Kasdan co-wrote both sequels to George Lucas' original film, and did say that he had little interest in writing the Han Solo film. He was convinced primarily due to his family's excitement at the prospect.
Kasdan was attached to Dysney's revival of Star Wars since 2013, and replaced Michael Arndt as screenwriter for the new film. Abrams has described the experience as similar to "taking an extended master class", praising the screenwriter's talents.
