Legendary CEO Gives Vain Inspiration behind Godzilla vs. Kong Plans

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell In the next few years we're going to see Kong: Skull Island (2017), and see Godzilla 2 (2018). But all that is just build-up for a mash-up between them, and if we don't get to see enough CGI monsters bashing one another, here's another opportunity.

Legendary CEO Thomas Tull doesn't bother to beat around his desire for the film, and said at Business Insider's Ignition Conference "I'm juvenile. I wanted to see them fight".

So yep, there you have it. Of all the possibilities out there, it looks like two hours of monster-fighting is what Legendary hopes audiences will flock to. Maybe Tull will buy out a few cinemas just to make the box office figures look respectable?

There's probably the expectation that these rather uninspiring remarks will get brushed under the carpet, and before 2020 comes around there will be some genuine chatter surrounding the film's potential. But at the heart of all that, there's a middle-aged man who just wants to see two monsters punch each other.

Fair enough, I guess. But first, they'll have to pull of the first two films. We have until 2017 to wait for Kong: Skull Island, and the reception to that will likely shape the future of this 'franchise'.
