Ryan Gosling gets beat up as Julian

After Luke Evans dropped out because he’d rather jump around in The Hobbit, Nicolas Winding Refn was without a lead a couple of weeks before he started shooting. Using his puppy-eyes he asked his previous lead in Drive, Ryan Gosling, who trained Muay Thai (martial arts) for months until Refn decided that he shouldn’t be a great fighter because it would be too cheesy.
