Mel Gibson Planning a 'Passion of the Christ' Sequel
THR reports that Mel Gibson is developing a Passion of the Christ sequel, as he looks to re-team with Braveheart writer Randall Wallace to detail Jesus' resurrection following the crucifixion detailed in the 2004 film.
Starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus, Maia Morgenstern as Mary and Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdalen, the film earned $611 million globally. The new film is operating off the title of 'Resurrection.'
Wallace is reportedly working on the screenplay for the sequel, after recently penning the script for Gibson's upcoming World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge, which comes out November 4.
