Naomi Watts and Jessica Lange to Star in 'The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll'
Jessica Lange and Naomi Watts have joined on for an adaptation of Jean Nathan's novel The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll. The film will be directed by Gia Coppola, based on a script by Merrit Jonhson.
The story revolves around Dare Wright, writer of the bestselling children's book The Lonely Doll, making her a household name in the 50's. Four decades later, journalist Jean Nathan searches for the out-of-print book series, and discovers Wright living in a decrepit public hospital in Queens, New York. Nathan spent five years piecing together Wright's life of glamour and isolation.
Award-winning filmmaker Jon Avnet said "Rodrigo [Garcia] and I have been fans of and have worked with Merrit, Jessica and Naomie before. Jean Nathan's unique piece is a great vehicle for a reunion and a chance for Gia Copolla to make a very distinctive film."
