New Star Trek TV Series In The Works

NadiaA71 NadiaA71 It has been 10 years since the last Star Trek TV episode aired and now CBS just announced that a new Star Trek series will premiere in January 2017.

According to StarTrek.com the new series will introduce new characters, new worlds and new civilizations while exploring contemporary themes which have been a signature of the franchise since it first aired in 1966. It is probably not a coincidence that the series will air in celebration of the franchise' 50 years anniversary.

Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin will be the executive producers for this new series. Kurtzman is the co-writer and co-producer of StarTrek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2012). No writers have been named yet for this beloved cult classic.

The series will be available on CBS All Access in the United States. It will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platform around the world by CBS Studios International.
