Producer Simon Kinberg Comments on the Future of 'Fantastic Four'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Fantastic Four is 2015's infamous tale of a film for which everything that could go wrong, did. At least, critically and commercially and, by the sounds of it, on-set too. Despite that, and considering the amount of leftover footage that was never seen in the actual film, Collider asked producer Simon Kinberg what chances there are of seeing an alternate cut of the film.

"I don’t know the answer to that in terms of whether or not fans will ever see it. I think B-roll is probably the place where they will see it. And for us, it’s in the past in the sense of lessons learned and we would love to make another Fantastic Four movie. We really believe in that cast, and I think the lessons that we learned would help us make a more consistent movie than we did the first time."

His words his suggest, very mildly, that there could potentially be a reboot in which they reuse the key actors from the first. It's hard to imagine that being a smart or easy business move, and the actors themselves might have other ideas, but it's an interesting thought.

Whether there are plans for further Fantastic Four films, "I have no idea. I think the truth is we would not make another Fantastic Four movie until it was ready to be made. One of the lessons we learned on that movie is that we want to make sure we get it 100% right, because we will not get another chance with the fans."
