Ryan Murphy is Already Developing a New Season of 'American Horror Story'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell There is a wide-reaching cloud of mystery and secrecy surrounding the new season of American Horror Story, and it's remarkably refreshing. We're more or less going in blind with this thing, and in an age where films and TV throw a huge number of its secrets at us before the first scene rolls, it's a credit to FX and Ryan Murphy that this is still mysterious two episodes in.

Now, Murphy has revealed that he is already working on a new season for the series. "I don't know when it will [air] but it's also an experiment. It's a different way of doing it. It's one person writing all episodes. I don't know if it's going to work but it's like, well, let's try that. We might get them done and shoot them on the sly and drop it," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly.

Only two people know about the new season - Murphy and the unknown writer. "It's like a 2-year-project that we'll continue to work on the sly and not tell anyone."

Season six itself is fueled by reinvention, as the series takes on a mockumentary format to freshen things up. Earlier in the year, Murphy did tease that "we've been working on two ideas at once." It has also been commented on that the show could begin airing two seasons a year. There's no shortage of ambition there, at least.

With the ten-episode six season - shorter than past years - this story will be tied up prior to winter holidays. Perhaps a new season is being eyed for the new year?
