'Scarface' Remake Gains 'Wolf of Wall Street' Writer for Script Duties

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Universal has added Antoine Fuqua to direct the heavily-sought remake of Scarface, who is coming off The Magnificent Seven, and now a new writer has been hired to script the second remake for the popular tale.

Terence Winter, who wrote The Wolf of Wall Street, has been hired "to do a polish of Jonathan Herman's latest draft of Universal's new retelling." Variety reports that it is a "reimagining of the core immigrant story told in both the 1932 and 1983 film."

The film will now be set in Los Angeles and will focus on Mexican immigration.

Fuqua has put a date on production for Equalizer 2, and it's clear Universal want to fast-track Scarface, so hopefully it doesn't result in a rushed project.
