
Sony Pictures Animation Reveals its 2017-18 Slate, with Releases for Animated Spider-Man and More
Sony Pictures Animation has revealed its 2017 and 2018 slate of films, with plenty on offer for the next couple of years.
Five theatrical releases have been dated, with the Spider-Man animated film getting a release for Christmas time 2018, with Miles Morales rumoured as the lead webslinger. Sequels to the Smurfs and Hotel Transylvania franchises are coming, as well as the Emoji movie and a new film titled The Star.
Smurfs: The Lost Village will arrive April 7, 2017, while Emoji Movie: Express Yourself is targeting an August 2017 release. The Star is scheduled for a December 8, 2017 arrival, Hotel Transylvania quite a while after with a release date of September 21, 2018, and Spider-Man closing it out with a December 21, 2018 release.
A TV series based on the Hotel Transylvania series is also slated for 2017, as well as a TV adaptation of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
