Stan Lee Says A Star Wars/Avengers Crossover Could Happen

ZachPerilstein ZachPerilstein Disney Reporter Marvel's Stan Lee talks the possibility of a Star Wars/Avengers Crossover.

Stan Lee isn't totally out of the ball park in this situation even though it might sound like it. Disney owns both properties, and even though Marvel and Star Wars are the biggest box office attractions right now it seems very unlikely they will team up. According to Stan Lee in a interview with The Big Issue he pitches an idea for the crossover.

"Obviously the people who produce these [movies] are looking to be as successful as possible. If they feel that incorporating Star Wars with the Marvel characters will be very successful, they’ll find a way to do it. Can you imagine Spider-Man saying, 'May the force be with you'? It may come to that! I created the Avengers by taking many of our characters and making a team out of them. We can have as many characters join the Avengers as we want to for future movies. That might be fun, all of a sudden Luke Skywalker is an Avenger!" -Stan Lee

Stan Lee also mentioned that a movie on this large of scale would be extremely expensive. Lee continued saying if the public wants it Disney will find a way to make it happen.

It's difficult for the most of us to think of a good, coherent plot for a crossover. How do Superheroes from our time meet the galactic heroes from a long time ago in a galaxy far far way. Even though Stan Lee shares his passionate idea it is very very unlikely that Star Wars will meet the Avengers anytime soon. Marvel's Phase Three will conclude in 2019 and Marvel is still planning a Phase Four. The list of Star Wars film are only scheduled tip 2020. Director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) was once asked about a Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy crossover he said it would have to involve time travel because his story happens now and Star Wars obviously happened a long time ago.

The most likely crossover the Walt Disney Company will ever attempt with these two franchise would be the comics. Marvel recently started writing Star Wars comics. Plus if Stan Lee is as passionate as he sounds about this vision, who knows we could be getting some crazy comics about the Avengers and Star Wars.
