Stephen Amell on What Deathstroke's Big Screen Appearance Will Mean for 'Arrow'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Arrow has been home to a number of DC properties, and on one occasion, namely Suicide Squad, its members made an abrupt departure. This happened, conversely, not long prior to the Suicide Squad film's arrival.

And Deathstroke has played a long, important role in the Arrow mythos on The CW. At Salt Lake City Comic Con, Stephen Amell addressed what the one-eyed assassin's new role on the big screen would mean for the TV show.

“That [question is] actually something that people bring up on a regular basis...that DC has told us you can’t have or you must get rid of [this character]. That’s not how that works.

“Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns - the people at Warner Bros. on the feature side, the people at Warner Bros. on the television side - are all in the business of making the best products for fans,” he explained. “Just because there may or may not be a Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe doesn’t mean Manu Bennett can’t exist on our show.”

Manu Bennett has cited a 'softball' path for the character in recent times, disagreeing with the choice of direction for the character. But despite the question of whether he will or won't return to the role, according to Amell the character can still exist in that universe.

“There is no in-fighting,” Stephen said. “here is no war between the two factions. It’s all a collaborative effort and - in the grand scheme of things - I think the television universe has done just fine for itself.”
