'Suicide Squad' Tallies Record Monday Box Office Take, Eyeing Over $50 Million in Weekend 2

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell DC's latest film Suicide Squad is expected to take between $51-$54 million in its second weekend, marking a roughly 60% decline from opening weekend. This isn't as steep as Batman v Superman, though its opening weekend haul is being pointed toward the younger audience, which took to the film favourably and flocked to cinemas.

The film took the record for an August Monday release with $13.1 million yesterday, beating out Guardians of the Galaxy's $11.7 million earnings on August 4, 2014.

Suicide Squad is still the top advance ticket seller for the coming weekend, though it has some fierce competition from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's R-rated animated film Sausage Party.
