'Supergirl' Star Melissa Benoist joins Boston Bombing Drama 'Patriots Day'
CBS Films and Lionsgate have announced that Melissa Benoist, Khandi Alexander, and Jake Picking have all joined Patriots Day, which already has an immense cast including Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, Michael Beach, Jimmy O. Yang, Vincent Curatola, Alex Wolff, James Colby, Themo Melikidze, Rachel Brosnahan and Christopher O’Shea
Peter Berg is directing the film, which is being produced by Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky.
The film follows the events of 2013's Boston Marathon Bombing. Benoist will play Katherine Russell, Alexander is a law enforcement interrogator, and Picking is MIT Police Officer Sean Collier.
The film is in production and will open in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on December 21, 2016.
