Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano in Swiss Army Man

'Swiss Army Man' Director's Call Their Film the Opposite of 'The Revenant'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell The movie that has the single most bizarre selling point I've ever come across is called Swiss Army Man, and stars Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano. Radcliffe plays a "farting corpse with a boner," and that's about all you need to know... apart from the fact that it's proven to be one of the most meaningful films of the year in critical eyes.

Daniel brothers Kwan and Scheinert defied genres and crafted a film to follow their extensive work on music videos. Kwan said that "we did so much experimenting with our short films and music videos that people started to trust us" when it came to pitching.

Scheinert said "this movie was the most fun thing to pitch. I don't know how people pitch boring movies. You have to pitch to people so many times. I never got bored of pitching this to people."

Scheinert also went on to distance the film from The Revenant. "I think this film accidentally became the opposite of The Revenant, which is a survival film about brute force overcoming nature, men against men, revenge... it's a very hard, traditional film about masculinity.

"Ours is the other spectrum of what men can be. I thin it's made some guys uncomfortable because it's way too earnest and sincere about guys feeling uncomfortable with themselves and their shame."

The film is now in theaters in the U.S.
