Taylor Kitsch Cast in 'Waco' TV Series

NadiaA71 NadiaA71 Weinstein Television is currently working on Waco, a TV series based on the true story of the FBI siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas in 1993. Taylor Kitsch (True Detective) is set to portray David Koresh. Also cast in this series is Michael Shannon (Midnight Special) who will play FBI negotiator Gary Noesner. Meanwhile, Ludacris (Furious 7) is being eyed to take the role of Branch Davidian member Wayne Martin.

The series will focus on the 51 days standoff between the FBI and the Branch Davidian sect led by David Koresh. The standoff ended in a deadly shootout and a fire in the compound which ultimately killed Koresh and 75 people.

John Eric Dowdle is set to direct the series. He and his brother Drew Dowdle will also pen the script based on two biographies: 'A Place Called Waco', by Branch Davidian David Thibodeau who survived the fire and 'Sinful Messiah' which was written by FBI negotiator Noesner. According to THR, the series will tell the story from several perspectives.

With the addition of the dedicated actors like Michael and Taylor, WACO will deliver on the promise of a sophisticated and harrowing expose that is sure to be appointment TV viewing"
