The CW Considering Standalone Streaming Service

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell As their Netflix and Hulu deals race toward their natural end, The CW is reportedly considering launching their own streaming service as opposed to resigning on established deals.

The network has plenty of content to promote if they were to go this route. On top of their four DC Entertainment titles, they have their online online Vixen (also DC), as well as Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Rumours have surfaced recently that The CW would slow the DC releases to Netflix to try and boost their Blu-ray and DVD sales. With a four year deal inked in 2011 with Netflix, and a five year deal made in that same year, the company still has special deals in place that are independent of these networks (such as Veronica Mars streaming on Amazon Prime free for a time).

THR reported that Mark Pedowitz, network head, told reporters at the Television Critics Assosciation that there are a few entities that are interested in their products, and they are exploring both internal and external options for their digital service.
