'The Invitation' Director Karyn Kusama Will Helm New Horror Film 'Breed'

NadiaA71 Karyn Kusama, who directed the successful 2016 thriller The Invitation, is gearing up to helm Fox' horror film Breed.

She will re-team with The Invitaion writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, who will write the script based on a novel with the same title written by Chase Novak (penname Scott Spencer). It follows a wealthy New York couple who are desperate to have children. They turn to an Eastern European fertility clinic to help them conceive using unconventional methods. The consequences of the procedure begin to appear a decade later.

Hay and Manfredi will also produce the film, along with Scott Frank (A Walk Among The Tombstone). Frank recently signed a production deal with Fox and Breed is their first collaboration.

"Breed was the first piece of material I acquired and was a complete no-brainer - falling right into the sweet spot of the work I'm trying to do in my partnership with Fox," Frank said in a statement. "The fact that I get to collaborate with the talented likes of Phil, Matt and Karyn only makes an already exciting project even sweeter."
