'The Jungle Book' Dominates International Box Office with $136.1 Million

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell The Jungle Book has taken $136.1 million over the weekend overseas, and landed the top spot domestically as well with a debut at $103.6 million.

Worldwide, the story of a feral child raised in the wilderness has made $291 million and is expected to pass $300 on Monday. Jon Favreau's film has been critically praised, justifying the live-action remake with a pure cinematic experience.

The film earned $50.3 million from its China debut, while in India the film has tallied $20.1 million. Universal's The Huntsman: Winter's War placed second in the worldwide box office, which sees a star-studded cast coming together in Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, and Emily Blunt.

Batman v Superman finished third, and brings its global total to $827.3 million.
