Tom Hooper Adapting 'Cats' Musical for the Big Screen
Tom Hooper is credited for bringing Les Miserables to the big screen with great success, earning $441.8 million worldwide and eight Academy Award nominations.
Now, the director is looking to get back into the same ballpark, next up tacking Andrew Lloyd Webber's immensely popular Cats. Universal and Working Title are bringing the project into realisation, both companies of which Hooper has collaborated with to great success.
Cats is the fourth-longest running show in Broadway history with 7,485 performances. Hooper, meanwhile, has an Oscar to his name for The King's Speech. Most recently, he directed The Danish Girl with Alicia Vikander picking up best supporting actress.
