Two New Writers Join James Franco's HBO Porn Drama 'The Deuce'
David Simon's upcoming HBO drama The Deuce has added novelists Megan Abbot and Lisa Lutz to its writers room, joining George Pelecanos, Richard Price, and Simon.
Given a series order back in January, the series stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco and is currently in pre-production in New York. It focuses on the legalisation and rise of the porn industry in Times Square during the early 70s and mid-80s, set in the midst of a changing world fueled by panic of the rise of HIV, the cocaine epidemic and subsequent violence.
Abbot has seven award-winning novels to her name, including Dare Me and The Fever. She has also written for the New York Times, the Guardian and the Wall Street Journal. Lutz is New York Times bestselling author of nine novels, including The Passenger.
