'Westworld' Season 2 in Development, But Won't Expand to Other Theme Parks

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell The title might not mean much to those who haven't seen the 1973 film, but Western World is one of three in the sci-fi tale, along with Roman World and Medieval World. While a member of the production team hinted at it last week, it seems we won't be seeing those any time soon.

Onto the good news though. While HBO hasn't renewed the series for a second year just yet, it seems plenty of thought is being put into a follow-up year in the sci-fi/western hybrid, which has seen solid numbers and critical praise in its opening fortnight.

At NYCC, showrunner Jonathan Nolan admitted that a ton of material had to be cut from season one that they hope to explore in the next one. “There were a handful of things that we weren’t able to touch in the first season; we’re now currently breaking the second season,” Nolan said.

“One of the really nice things about TV is, you get to go again.” Previously, the showrunners have cited that they have 5 or 6 seasons of the show mapped out, so it's no surprise that work is already underway.

When asked about the other worlds and whether we'd be seeing them in the series, he responded with: “You said Roman World and Medieval World, right? No.”
