Why 'Luke Cage' Was Bumped Up to Arrive Before 'Iron Fist' on Netflix
With Luke Cage arriving on Netflix this Friday, it seems that the bullet-proof hero wasn't always meant to come before the fourth Defender, Iron Fist, who will debut next year.
Showrunner Cheo Coker revealed that Luke Cage wasn't supposed to come next after Jessica Jones, however positive reaction to Mike Colter's turn as Luke Cage in the aforementioned season meant fast-tracking the solo series.
“Marvel went from, ‘We’re gonna take our time’ to ‘Let’s flip it and do Luke Cage first,’” Coker says. “‘We’ve got this great concept and this guy is leaping off the screen, let’s follow the momentum.’”
