Zack Snyder Confirms Cyborg's Origin, and How it Will Have a Larger Impact in 'Justice League'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell In Batman v Superman, Cyborg was one of a handful of Justice league members-to-be teased in one particular scene that saw the whole world open up before Wonder Woman's (Gal Gadot) eyes.

Director Zack Snyder has revealed a bit about Cyborg's origin, the sequence in which the character is transformed by a machine at the hands of his father in an attempt to save his dying son's life.

Casual fans might have been lost, but some comic book fans guessed, and probably guessed right, that this was yet another hint at the incoming threat of Darkseid. It also seems that Justice League may well be a loose adaptation of Geoff Johns' graphic novel Justice League Volume 1 - Origin.

The mysterious moving box we saw in the scene was never explained, but it is in fact a Mother Box. "That's the first glimpse of the Mother Box there," Snyder told EW. "It was an agonizing birth." A mother box is a highly advantaged, transportational device only created on Apokolips, Darkseid's homeworld.

The reveal goes along with the Knightmare sequence involving flying 'parademons', Lex Luthor's warnings (and the painting on his wall), and the recently released deleted scene featuring what may have been one of Darkseid's emissaries, to heavily allude to the villain being a major antagonist going forward.

Thought with all of these hints, it may be too obvious to expect this in Justice League: Part One. More likely, Darkseid will have a minor antagonistic role in Part One as the Justice League forms, only to reveal himself in full in Part Two.

Part One opens November 17 next year.
