Kevin Feige confirms Keanu Reeves is in talks to join the MCU

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Marvel fans and Keanu stans unite

Never mind the fact Avengers: Endgame will be re-released with all new footage or the fact we are merely a few weeks away from the anticipated release of Spider-Man: Far From Home!

Kevin Feige just revealed Marvel has had a longstanding courtship with the one and only Mr. Keanu Reeves. And according to Feige, it’s only a matter of time until that courtship eventually consummates into a marriage of epic proportions.

Thanks to ComicBook for doing the Internet’s good work here. We now have confirmation that Keanu Reeves is not just universally beloved by your fellow commoners, he’s beloved by the most influential studio to grace the 21st century. When pressed whether or not Marvel has talked to Keanu about the possibility of joining the MCU, Feige wasted no time dropping this whopper:

We talk to him for almost every film we make,” Feige tells ComicBook “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.

That bears repeating, “we talk to him for almost every film we make”. Which begs the question just how far back are we talking and for what roles? While Feige doesn’t divulge those juicy bits, he does go onto liken Marvel’s courtship with Reeves to Jake Gyllenhaal’s eventual casting in Far From Home. For Reeves, the hope is a similar situation will present itself when the right role comes along as it did for Jake.

Will that role be in Angelina Jolie’s The Eternals? Or perhaps it will be a self-fulfilling dream to play the next Wolverine in Disney’s recently acquired X-Men franchise?

Whatever shakes out, I ask that Marvel and Disney not mess with Keanu’s schedule filming John Wick 4.
