1. Mission: Impossible 4 - Ghost Protocol

Director: Brad Bird
Starring: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg

The IMF is shut down when it's implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear their organisation's name.

Ghost Protocol features numerous scenes that brim with a heart racing tension at their core. The late Roger Ebert described its action sequences as being a "kind of action poetry" and it's hard to disagree with such compliments. Although its implausible at times, it's still an adrenaline thrill ride from start to finish. It's visual approach is fantastic. Director Brad Bird ( ) certainly delivered the goods with plenty of sweeping angles, jolting perspectives and frank wide shots. Out of the four Mission: Impossible movies it doesn't quite hold up on a narrative basis, but from an enjoyment standpoint, it's an edge of your seat ride. And, isn't that what Mission: Impossible movies are all about?
