=8 Matt Damon
For every $1 he was paid, the film made on average $10.60
A member of Hollywood's hierarchy, Damon is a big earner no matter what he's in. Two of his last three films haven't been flops financially or critically, but their subject matter may have hampered their true potential. We Bought A Zoo is a niche film - it's not everyone's type of film and the same can be said for Behind The Candelabra which didn't even get a US theatrical release.
At this point in his career, Damon is branching out and trying his luck at different types of roles; not many actors in his position would attempt such a thing. Apart from Promised Land which was a financial failure, Damon's position on this list is only because of his huge payment demands and that his previous films haven't been the huge budget blockbuster's we're used to seeing him in.
Let's face it, he's given enough great performances over the years to have earned the privilege of being paid a lot of money and let's not forget, he's still one of the biggest draws in Hollywood.
Last Three Films;
We Bought A Zoo (2012) - Budget $50million returning $120million
Promised Land (2012) - Budget $15million returning $8million
Behind The Candelabra (2013) - Budget $23million returning $2.5million (UK only)
